Q: There is no water coming out of my faucets, what should I do? A: First, check that the main water service valve is in the “on” position. If it is, then check that the stops/valves on the fixtures are in the “on” position.
Q: Why don’t I have hot water? A: Here are 3 things that could be the problem. But don't hesitate to call.
Check if the water heater fill valve is open.
If you have a gas water heater, check if the gas is on to the unit and if you have a standing pilot.
If it’s electric, make sure power is on to the unit and that no breakers have been “tripped”.
Q: Why does my toilet fill up randomly? A: Most often it is that the flapper needs to be replaced. Either that, or your home could be haunted. But we're betting it's the flapper.
Q: My garbage / food disposal makes a “humming” noise; do I need a new one? A: Not usually, it’s clogged and usually can be unclogged and reset.
Q: Should I remove my hose from the outside faucet during winter? A: Absolutely, if you don’t, the faucet could break inside the house and cause major water damage.
Q: I’m planning to remodel my bathroom; does Summit Plumbing do that kind of work? A: Yes, Summit Plumbing is a full service plumbing company. We can fix faucets, replace water heaters, remodel bathrooms and finish your lower level, as well as new construction.
Q: How do I know if I have faucets or toilets that drip / leak? A: Take a look at the water meter in your home. It will be by your main water shutoff valve. If every faucet is shut off, no toilets filling, then your water meter should not show any movement. Even if it's moving very slowly, that means there's a slow drip / leak somewhere.
